Beware Foreclosure Wolves

Many Americans have been victims of scams that are heartbreaking and only make their situations worse.

We Buy Houses | Haltom City TX: There are certain factors of society that insist on preying upon those who are particularly vulnerable. The recent foreclosure activity that’s ravaging our country has brought out the worst in some who stand to make cumulative billions on the unethical methods they are using to scam their victims. People who are already under great stress at the thought of losing their homes are being victimized further by scam artists who pretend to be there to help them. Some even do this using legal, although unethical, methods. They tend to move around a lot as they are discovered, so that’s a red flag to look for.

Do business only with those who have a permanent stake in the community or area where they do business and have a reputation that precedes them. The situation you face when you are about to lose your home is one of the most stressful times anyone can imagine. It causes people to trust in those whom they shouldn’t trust because they believe that the ‘nice young man’ is going to help somehow. Many Americans have been victims of scams that are heartbreaking and only make their situations worse. Watch for anyone who wants you to sign your deed over to them and let you stay in the house. They may have you making payments to them, which they claim they are now sending to the mortgage company when indeed they may be doing nothing of the sort.

Your money may just be rent now paid to the new landlord since you turned over the deed to the house. They can legally (sort of!) continue to collect rent from you until the foreclosure is complete. Even if they receive only a few months worth of rent from you, they didn’t buy the house, and what they get from you hasn’t cost them a thing except some time running their scam. They can do this over and over to several people each month and make a nice, fat living for themselves. Most of them can even look at themselves in the mirror and sleep like babies at night.

You can assume they are feeling your pain and want to help you, but the truth is that they are wolves in sheep’s’ clothing and can’t be trusted. They are opportunists that are simply taking advantage of the situation at hand. Don’t play into their schemes no matter how charming or tempting their offer may be.
